I have had a hard time clearly explaining the advantages of collaboration software like Wiki's to friends and clients.

This picture (originating from Social Text, found on 37signals) neatlly illustrates the merit of collaborating (web)applications. Instead of an uncontrollable storm of e-mail, the information is gathered in a single container (document).
